UBW1 (Ultimate Baseball Weekend I)

We arrived at Wrigley Field for game 1 of a two-day weekend which was to see three games played in three different states. Roger Clemens was on the hill for the Yanks, with 299 career wins to his credit, but No. 300 would have to wait. Cubs 5, Yankees 2.

Outside of Wrigley, there was a statue commemorating one of baseball's most beloved broadcasting legends: Harry Caray.

Band at a baseball game?? Only at Wrigley Field.

So after the Cubs game, we hustled up to Milwaukee, which was only about a two-hour drive north, for the nightcap on our double-header. The retractable roof at Miller Park created a weird vibe in the stadium. The sun was shining, and we were six rows from the field so it smelled like an outdoor game, with the dirt and the grass so close. But we were definitely indoors.

Pretty good seats for game two of the day: Red Sox at Brewers.

The Sausage Race is one of the most recognizable features of Milwaukee's Miller Park. The Red Sox rallied from a 10-4 deficit to hit the game-winning home run in the ninth inning, which landed just feet in front of us. Red Sox 11, Brewers 10.

How great is this picture? After driving all night thru hell and high water (almost literally), we finally get to Saint Louis for the capper on a great weekend of baseball.

Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri provided us our third baseball game in a matter of 26 hours. There were plenty of fireworks, as the Cardinals beat the Orioles 11-10. This version of Busch Stadium is no longer standing, so Blake and I needed to make sure we revisited St. Louis to see the new Busch Stadium as part of URT1.
